I have a child that has a delayed speech problem. The Broward County School board diagnosed him with what they believe to be part of ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). For five and a half years now, there has been communication failure between my son and myself. Now that he is much older, his determination to get his way is intensified, a no from my wife or myself is sure to yield a temper tantrum. Not because he is a bratty kid but because he can’t comprehend the reasons why he can’t have his way.
My wife and I shower this little guy with love day in and day out. We make sure to go out of our ways to let him know through our care that he is loved beyond his understanding. It recently dawned on me that is how God shows us His love just as well. All of us, at some point of time had or continue to have communication failure with our maker. Our Heavenly Father communicates with us every single day of our lives, and not just here and then, but constantly. The problem is not that He is not involved in our lives, the problem is, do we understand Him and what He wants us to do.
